Habitat Loss: Deforestation destroys the natural habitat of animals and forces them to move somewhere else.
Ecosystem Disturbance: In the delicately balanced ecosystem, plants and animals are interdependent on each other. Deforestation destroys this balance in a myriad of ways. The food chain gets disrupted and animals become endangered or even extinct.
Disruption of Migration Routes: Deforestation destroys the natural migration routes for many species of birds, animals and insects.
Human-animal Conflict: Due to deforestation and loss of habitat, animals may stray into areas populated by humans, leading to an increase in conflict. For example, many tiger attacks have been reported in the villages of the Sundarbans in West Bengal which have proved to be fatal.
Changes in Climate: Changes in climate due to deforestation may affect species which have adapted to those climates.
Loss of Breeding Grounds and Changes in Reproductive Behaviour: Due to deforestation natural breeding ground and mating rituals of animals are lost. Thus, reproductive behaviour is affected.
