Solution to Activity 7.5 of NCERT Class 9 Science Chapter 7 Motion

5. Complete Activity 7.5 (Page 74).

• The data regarding the motion of two different objects A and B are given in Table 7.1.

• Examine them carefully and state whether the motion of the objects is uniform or non-uniform.

Answer:

We can see that the object A travels 10 m in the first 15 minutes, 10 m in the next 15 minutes and so on. It covers 10 m distance every 15 minutes. As the object covers equal distances in equal intervals of time, it is in uniform motion.

The object A travels (19 – 12) m = 7 m in the first 10 minute interval, it covers (23 – 19) m = 4 m in the second 10 minute interval, it covers (35 – 23) m = 12 m in the third 10 minute interval and so on. Since object B covers unequal distances in equal intervals of time, it is in non-uniform motion.

“• The data regarding the motion of two different objects A and B are given in Table 7.1.

• Examine them carefully and state whether the motion of the objects is uniform or non-uniform.” – Solved.
