3. Complete Activity 12.3 (Page 147). Visit a livestock farm. Note the following: (1) Number of cattle and number of different breeds. (2) The amount of daily milk production from the different breeds.

Answer:

I visited a livestock farm in Punjab and obtained details on the different breeds of cattle and the amount of daily milk production from the different breeds.

1. The farm houses a total of 75 cattle and there were three different breeds present:

Gir: 30 cows

Murrah: 25 cows

Sahiwal: 20 cows

2. The daily milk production from each breed is shown below:

Gir: Average of 12 liters per cow per day

Murrah: Average of 10-16 liters per cow per day

Sahiwal: Average of 8 – 10 liters per cow per day
