I visited an agricultural field in rural Maharashtra, India.

Weeds are unwanted plants which compete with plants for nutrients, water, sunlight and take up space. They should be removed for healthy growth of crops. The following weeds were found:

  • Dhatura
  • Dandelion
  • Nutgrass
Weeds.

Various flowers are commonly grown for ornamental purposes, religious ceremonies, and commercial flower production. The following flowers were being cultivated:

  • Marigold
  • Jasmine
  • Rose
Flowers.

The main crops being cultivated were:

  • Rice
  • Wheat
  • Sugarcane
Crops.

The main pests which were found to be feeding on the crops are:

  • Rice Weevil (found on rice)
  • Aphid (found on wheat)
  • Pyrilla perpusilla (found on sugarcane)
