Answer: The above activity can be carried out in the following ways:
Aim: To feel your teeth and identify the different kinds of teeth you have and for what purposes they are used.
Materials Required: Mirror, apple, bread.
Procedure:
(i) Wash your hands, open your mouth in front of the mirror and count your teeth.
(ii) Use your index finger to feel the different kinds of teeth.
(iii) Now take the piece of apple or bread and eat it. Identify which teeth you use for biting and cutting, which ones for piercing and tearing and which ones that are used for chewing and grinding. Record your observations in Table 2.2.

The different types of teeth in the jaw are shown below:

In each jaw there are 4 incisors, 2 canines and 10 premolars and molars. Incisors are used for cutting and biting, canines are used for piercing and tearing and premolars and molars are the chewing and grinding teeth. The complete Table 2.2 is shown below:
